#PARALLEL PORT CNC BREAKOUT DRIVERS#
Once you know the current required and the inductance you can decide what stepper drivers to use Recently finished the mechanical upgrade, built a new power supply which lets me run the axes at 5500mm/min without the need of noisy fans as the old one had, replaced my DC motor spindle with a real 3 phase spindle and a VFD and right now busy with the electronics box, containing drivers, 2 BOB and an UC300.

in the meantime, my priorities are on all the other parts. I have also considered to replace my UC300 with this one, but it works so well, and it has more inputs/outputs than I'll ever need, so I will wait at least until I can see some needs or benefits worth the extra €100 it costs, so it will probably not happen for a while. I'm having a lot of luck so far with the UC400ETH controller which takes Ethernet in one end and gives two LPT ports on the other, and is compatible with both Mach3 and UCCNC.Good to know. So many times people are talking about the "BOB"s that have the built in stepper driver modules on 'em, that's kinda what I assume first up now. BoB prices are not high, so there is no reason to use only one. The reason is that if you control two motors from the same output you will DEFINITELY get sync problems, the question is how soon and how serious when you notice it first time. In theory you can connect two steppers to one and the same output, but that is a poor idea since when one of the motors will be out of sync you will get HUGE problems, and the problems will increase in time. Thanks for the help!It is better to buy two break out boards and use two printer ports, or a USB (or Ethernet) motion controller with two parallel port outputs (or more) than to try to connect 6 steppers to less than 6 outputs.
#PARALLEL PORT CNC BREAKOUT HOW TO#
What do you recommend? How to wire 6 pcs stepper motors to one breakout board and which type of breakout board to choose? *Can I connect X axis 2 pcs stepper motor's drivers to one cnc breakout board connect, if yes, I can buy 5th breakout board, if no, I have to connect 2 pcs stepper motor's drivers to separate connect's, and I have to buy 6th axis board. for Y axis and 1 pcs for Z axis, and 2 pcs. Which breakout board to choose: i use 2 pcs.
